Matrix and impact analysis
Objective
Detect which downstream coverages must be reviewed after an upstream requirement changes.
Prerequisites
- REQCHECKER™ PRO or an edition that includes the Coverage Matrix.
- A project containing an upstream requirement and at least one downstream coverage.
- Familiarity with requirement versions and the Coverage Matrix.
Expected result
After an upstream requirement changes, the Coverage Matrix identifies the downstream coverage that must be reviewed because its version or automatic footprint no longer matches.
Context
Impact assessment is a fundamental function to keep all documentation consistent and up to date.

Steps
- Update the upstream requirement text or its explicit version.
- Recompute the project and open Report > Coverage Matrix.
- Identify the coverage entries whose version or footprint no longer matches the upstream requirement.
- Review the affected downstream document, update its coverage when necessary, and save the document.
- Recompute the project until the impacted entries are consistent.

Success criteria
The Coverage Matrix no longer reports an unexpected version or footprint mismatch for the changed requirement, and each affected downstream coverage has been reviewed.
